1664 Christmas
Challenge
This December, Civvy2Commando are orchestrating a virtual charity challenge to help raise some much-needed funds for Armed Forces Mental Health charitable organisation and our chosen charity – Rock2Recovery.
With this being virtual, absolutely ANYONE is welcome to get involved, take part, and raise some money for an amazing cause no matter where you are in the world!

Rock2Recovery is a community interest company that provides specialist non-clinical intervention coaching to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans, members of the emergency services and their families. R2R helps people to change their thinking and change the meaning they make of either events or the future. It you can change the meaning then you can change the feeling.
Sessions are free and clients are in charge of their own recovery. Clients decide how many sessions they have and when they stop. There is no limit. R2R have coached over 3,000 clients for free and with your help we can coach another 3,000 over the next three years.

Civvy2Commando is a company owned by Dave Coleman (DC), who helps prepare and train the next generation of potential Royal Marines before they start basic training, so with the Royal Marine connection there, it seemed fitting to incorporate the year the Marines were formed (1664) into the theme of the event, and with Rock2Recovery being a charity very close to our hearts, they were the obvious choice.
We are asking YOU to go out and rack up as many miles of running or walking as you can from December 1st – December 24th and to self-raise as much money for Rock2Recovery as possible. Last December, DC joined a group of friends in running a 43-mile ultra-marathon to raise money for Rock2Recovery in memory of a very close friend and Paratrooper, Scott Sarson, who sadly took his own life following a long battle with mental health issues. This run gave a purpose and a reason to get out there and train in the cold, dark nights of winter when it is so easy to find an excuse not to train.
This gave us the idea for the Civvy2Commando 1664 Christmas Challenge to give people a reason to get out there and better their own physical and mental health during the months when it can be difficult to stay motivated, all whilst raising money for charity.
If this isn’t enough to motivate you to get moving and get your sponsorship heads on, then hopefully this will change your mind! We have 2 HUGE equal prize pots up for grabs in the Ultimate Military Christmas Hampers worth THOUSANDS of pounds, including prizes generously donated from leading brands such as Nite Watches, Thrudark, Grenade, Dryrobe, Who Dares Gyms, Civvy2Commando, Gibraltar Trading Company, Soldiers on the Move, Rum25, The Royal Marines Shop, Combat Candy and Saltlick Fitness, as well as signed books from Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox, Phil Campion, Mark Ormrod, Gareth Timmins and The Bootneck Dictionary. (To name a few!)
Entrance to the challenge is charged at £16.64 which gets you your very own, limited edition Civvy2Commando 1664 Christmas Challenge t-shirt which was designed by ‘The Bootneck Banksy’.
Once you have entered you are asked to aim for a minimum sponsorship target of £166.40 and to get out and run as much and as far as you can throughout December. If you can’t run or walk but still want to take part, then get cycling, swimming, rowing, or any form of exercise!! However, you will not be eligible to win the ‘Furthest Distance Ran’ award but can still go for the ‘Most Money Raised’ award which has the same prize pot!
R2R will be in touch once you have signed up to set you up with a fundraising page.
The 2 prize pots will be completely equal to make the awards just as prestigious as the other.
The winner will be announced on a joint Zoom call on Christmas Eve and the prizes will be posted to the winners ASAP after Christmas!
